The University of Illinois College of ACES, Department of Animal Science and University of Illinois Extension are excited to provide online tutorials for best practices in handling and working with horses. These tutorials are designed for youth and adults who are new to horses/horse ownership.

Horse Handling Safety is a 30 minute tutorial that covers the following safety topics: approaching; haltering; leading; turning a horse while leading; leading through a narrow opening; turning a horse loose; tying; moving around a tied horse; picking up a horse’s foot. The tutorial includes a 9-question quiz to test your knowledge.
