The Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership has been contracted by Illinois Department of Agriculture to lead a Soil Health Training for Soil and Water Conservation District staff. This training will consist of five sessions, some of which will be online and some in- person. At least one (1) employee per SWCD is expected to complete all five sessions of the training.  SWCD Directors and other SWCD employees are also invited to participate in all or some of the training sessions as well.

This course covers the six principles of regenerative agriculture:

  • manage holistically
  • integrate livestock
  • minimize disturbance
  • maximize diversity
  • maintain living roots
  • keep the soil covered

Participants have 12 weeks to complete the seven modules. Each topic includes a short video, a quiz, and a resources section.

This course provides 3 hours of continuing education for Illinois Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists.

ISAP’s Soil Health Leadership Program will graduate a class of farmers, advisors, and practitioners who understand the whole soil health system: physical, biological, and chemical characteristics of soil and the relationship of these principles to farm management.

Graduates will expand their professional network and build relationships with other professionals and farmers in their region, allowing them to become valuable resources for the Illinois agriculture community.

This course is not available for enrollment at this time.
