In this session, Dr. Nick Seiter discusses Dectes stem borer, a pest of soybean in southern Illinois that has gained attention in recent years. Management of this insect should focus on preventing lodging at harvest, as the impacts of stem tunneling are minimal. Options for chemical control are limited; however, monitoring, timely harvest, and cultural practices will be discussed.
