In this course you will be trained in basic insect morphology and identification of relevant insects in soybean and corn in the Midwestern United States. It provides participants with a basic understanding of insect morphology and equip them with the skills to identify common insects of agricultural importance found in the Midwest region.
The topics covered are:
- Module 1 - Basic insect morphology
- Module 2 - Corn rootworm complex and some caterpillars in corn
- Module 3 - Bean leaf beetle, some caterpillars in soybean, and stink bugs.
This will be accomplished using some of the latest 3D modeling technology that can be manipulated by the user, allowing for improved understanding and visualization of macroscopic and microscopic identifying characteristics.
